Planning Your Halloween Vacation

So you’ve looked through our list of Halloween vacation ideas and you’ve decided what type of holiday you prefer. But choosing among the available spooky hangouts is only the start of planning a successful Halloween vacation. There are a few more things you need to do to make sure that your trip is successful and enjoyable.
Mysterious Destinations
You’ve chosen the theme, so now decide on the place. This may be a ghost town or a city with a spectacular Halloween show, but remember that this will only be one part of your trip. Do some research to find out what else is available in the area, especially if your trip will last several days. Visiting a haunted house in a remote location may seem like a good idea (as it adds to the atmosphere) but you will want to do other things too and choosing a location that is close to other places of interest will improve your trip. Travel Arrangements
Next, arrange travel. If it’s nearby, you may choose to drive, otherwise look around for Halloween travel deals so you can save some money. Many of these have to be booked well in advance, but others don’t mind a last minute booking. (For example, Canada’s Westjet Airlines is offering free flights to people with the last names Candy, Orange, Web, Webb or Sweet. You can book today and travel tomorrow.) If you’re flying, don’t forget to book offsite airport parking so you can save some money.
Where To Stay
Accommodation is another important issue. Many travel companies offer vacation packages, or you can search the travel sites for recommendations on great places to stay. Sometimes booking direct can get you a great deal, too. Sometimes it’s useful to book a hotel in a central location so that you can get to everything you want to see easily, but if the location is popular this may be both difficult and costly. See what’s available a short distance away to make additional savings.
With the location, travel and accommodation arranged, all you have to do is pack. As well as the usual items, pack a costume or costumes and some makeup so you can blend in with other spooky revelers wherever you go. Have a great Halloween!
