Travel Tips For A Great Summer
Summer is just around the corner, with the Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends not far away. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your summer vacation.

Planning
If you haven’t already booked your vacation, then now is a good time to start. If you plan to fly, then the earlier you make your reservation the better your chances of getting the deal you want. If you can be flexible on travel dates, then you stand an even better chance of snagging a travel bargain. Forward planning is also useful for booking hotels, restaurants and rental cars, because once the peak holiday season is here, it will be harder to get the reservations you want. Don’t forget to book offsite airport parking from your departure airport so you can have a hassle free journey.
Packing
There’s no need to take the kitchen sink on vacation nor should you wait till the last minute and pack in a panic. That’s a sure way to forget an essential item or end up lugging around something you don’t really need. Instead, make a list well in advance (I have a standard list which I customize), leave a suitcase open and pack whatever is ready ahead of time.
When traveling by car, remember to put together an emergency kit with spare clothes, water, non perishable food, a first aid kit and any car maintenance essentials. For air travelers, check your baggage allowance to avoid having to discard items at the airport or pay a hefty excess baggage charge. And don’t forget to follow the 3-1-1 rule for gels and liquids in hand baggage.
Paperwork
It’s always a good idea to have essential paperwork with you. These will include your driving license if you’re driving, and your passport, e-ticket and travel insurance document if you’re flying abroad. Make copies to store separately - this will assist you in getting your ID back and making claims if your paperwork is lost or stolen. Don’t forget to include copies of prescriptions in case you need to replace essential medication en route.
These three tips should help you get your summer vacation off to a great start. Have fun!
