Five Fab Facebook Pages for Travelers
We’ve been getting more active on Facebook, and in our online travels we’ve come across some great pages on travel that are worth sharing, so here we go.
Sharing Travel Experiences is a travel lifestyle magazine with the aim of “Getting folk off their armchairs and out to see the world”. Founded by Andy Hayes in 2008, the site provides travel articles and recommendations and a travel concierge tool. There’s some great discussion on the Facebook page on the excellent posts that are featured. Recent post: The Difference Between Travel and a Pilgrimage.
Soultravelers3 has been winning accolades all through the past year for its excellent blog chronicling the round the world adventure of a family of three. They describe themselves as a “Family on an open ended world tour since 2006. 5 continents, 38 countries, 275,000 miles ( mostly overland). Living large on 25K a year!”
The site won two Lonely Planet awards in 2009 and is listed near the top of the Top 50 Online Travel Influencers. I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with Jeanne, who runs the blog and Facebook page and she’s genuinely excited about sharing her journey with others. The man behind FoxNomad is Anil Polat who is using income from his travel blogs to travel round the world full time. He’s a real travel enthusiast, with several sites providing advice on different aspects of travel (such as traveling with pets and getting the right technology. Got Passport. Will Travel. Will Serve is the inspiring name of the blog behind this Facebook page. This is a family of three who have now successfully relocated to Thailand and aim to show that it’s possible to minimize material possessions, inspire others, and educate their daughter, while living a green lifestyle and embracing slow travel. The info tab on their Facebook page says it all. Recent post: How to be Our Good Neighbor: Offer Food!
With nearly 10,000 fans, Matador Network doesn’t need the boost, but if you’re interested in travel, it’s a must-read. Matador’s involved in everything to do with travel, publishing print and online magazines, offering travel writing an photography courses and being a positive force in the global travel community.
