Five Travel Blog Titles That Grabbed Me
I’m always looking for interesting travel blogs and on my last trawl through the interwebs I found some really great ones – and they grabbed me right from the time I saw the blog title. Here they are.
This blog isn’t new to me, but it’s one I haven’t been to in a while. Founded by Mark Wiens, aka Migration Mark, the blog shares: “cultural observations, world dining highlights, and … real evidence from long term travel”. This is a great blog is you want to see some new places (Mark visited 12 major countries in 2010.

What hooked me about this blog title was the sense of rebelling against the norm, which the about page confirms. Here’s Kelly and Austin’s description of their feelings about travel. “We believe that anything worth doing will scare the hell out of you, and with this in mind we keep ourselves open to all of life’s experiences. Some buy a ready-made, comfortable vacation. We, instead, search out our own, relying on our wits, resourcefulness and the kindness of strangers.”

As a childhood nomad and adult traveler, other cultures interest me, hence the pull of Pocket Cultures. A mix of blog posts from different places and cultural snapshots and stories, the blog is a treasure trove for culture buffs. The site describes itself this way: “PocketCultures provides a place where you can go to find out about what life is really like in different countries that you haven’t travelled to, and hopefully to find even more information, and join in the discussion about countries you have visited.”

This blog has the 3Fs for me: food, photos and France (yes, I know photos doesn’t start with F, but it sounds like it does!). Robin Locker Lacey has a passion for France, Italy, European travel and food. She says: “I enjoy traveling frequently to Europe but in between trips I like to discover new things that remind me of the European culture that I love so much. As a writer and a travel consultant I started My Mélange to infuse European culture into your lifestyle.”

I was intrigued by the title The Road Forks. It’s a blog owned by Akila and Patrick who are cooking and eating their way around the world. They say: “On this site, you will find stories of unique places, delicious foods, less than thrilling destinations, and sub-standard restaurants across the globe. ”
There’s a great range of countries visited and some mouthwatering photos of food.
