I Can’t Travel Without …

When I saw PC Housing’s Travel Needs Contest, I immediately decided to enter. That’s because I welcomed the challenge of picking just one item that I couldn’t travel without. Like many people, I’ve got my favorite travel accessories, but what do I travel with that would significantly affect my enjoyment of the trip if I left it behind? You might be surprised to know that it’s not my laptop. That’s because I usually pick hotels that have business centers. I also have a smartphone so I can connect to Wi-Fi wherever it’s available. So though a laptop will probably show up among my list of favorite accessories and is useful, it’s no longer essential.

Another of my favorite travel accessories is my ebook reader, but if I left it behind, I’d simply hit the bookstores and buy a couple of books for the trip. (I can’t have a trip without reading material; that would be a nightmare.)

So what would I need to turn the plane around to get? The answer’s kind of prosaic, but at the same time understandable – my glasses. If I left them at home, I’d have to turn around and go back and get them. They’re not reading glasses that you can buy off the shelf – they’re varifocals with a couple of bells and whistles, so they’re not easy to replace. Although I could muddle through for a couple of hours, I’d soon get eyestrain and a seemingly permanent headache if I had to do without them for longer. And while I’d be able to see meeting notes in front of my face, I’d struggle to follow presentations at the front of the meeting room or, more practically, to drive my rental car. So there you have it, I couldn’t travel without my specs. What is your must-have item when you travel?

this really is a tough question. i’d say something i can’t travel without would be is my ipod nano. it’s just that music really helps me get through long flights, layovers, and whatever quiet times i have.

A music device is definitely a must-have, Mack. Thanks for sharing.
