This is an exceptional list and really believable as well. Solvang is adorable and great place and area to spend the holidays. Very homey and there are tons of antique and art galleries to keep you entertained. As well, Santa Barbara is right down the way about 35 minutes. If you rather be on the coast, this is the place for you. They always tend to have sunny Christmas'. I spent one of the best Holiday breaks there and it was sunny the entire time! I learned how to surf and kayak properly and it was awesome to know I was enjoying the beach and others were buried in snow trying to keep warm! We stayed at a very comfortable and elegant hotel; the South Coast Inn. Close to my daughter's school UCSB and the beaches and countless good restaurants!

We stopped in Solvang on our road trip down the coast. Its a great little town with interesting architecture.
Solvang? That's interesting, I've never heard of that one before. Santa Barbara is pretty festive during the holidays...they have the lighting of the trees and an annual parade. I personally love New York City during Christmastime...I love all the storefront displays. I'm a sucker for lighted up trees though! If you do decide to go to Santa Barbara or Solvang, The South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotels.com) in Goleta is a good stop in between both of the areas. Their lobby is nice during the holiday season, and it's very affordable so you will have more to spend on presents!
